As a summer clerk you’ll work with partners, their team and their clients on real commercial work. You’ll help prepare opinions, letters, court documents, and contracts. You’ll attend various client meetings, client seminars, mediations, and court sessions.

‘Before summer clerking, I heard many jokes that I would get very good at making coffees and photocopying but that was not my experience. I’ve had real work. People want you to give things a go and are always there to teach you and answer questions. (For example, I worked on an iconic Kiwi jewellery company’s terms and conditions for their Christmas competition). You feel like you can add value to real work—and I haven’t made one coffee the entire summer!’
